The Queen of My Dreams (2023)
Director Fawzia Mirza’s debut feature film, a vibrant Pakistani-Canadian dramedy, needed titles, typography, and a poster designed in both English and Urdu.
The assets needed to reflect the film’s vivacious tone, give it a sense of elegance, and harken back to the Pakistani classics that influenced it.
Main title cards in both English and Urdu
Poster design
“Azra is worlds apart from her conservative Muslim mother. Following a tragedy, Azra finds herself on a Bollywood-inspired journey to Pakistan — guided by memories of her mother's youth in Karachi and her own coming-of-age in rural Canada.”

Main-on-end credits design
For the closing sequence, which features footage of a group of singers performing, I set the credits of the key cast and crew in turquoise typography with a slight drop shadow.
Lower-third location keys
Lower-third TV ident
The producers also requested a lower-third graphic for a 1990s-set cable TV access show that appears in the film called “Visions of Pakistan”.
Illustration created for the bottom of the end crawl
During our titles exploration, I created an illustration that alludes to the three main characters (mother, daughter, grandmother) and their connection. It wasn’t right for the main title but we found a spot for it at the bottom of the end crawl.
Film merchandise
The production company made merchandise featuring my illustration and logo design.
